Obama 2012 Relying On Sun Wind (and Hot Air) to Sucker America’s Youth

First off let me just say that I am in full support of funding research to assist the development of solar and wind technologies, undoubtedly the type of technologies that future generations will depend heavily on.

Having said that, lets get real about what all that will gets us. The answer is not much any time soon.

In the last year solar energy and wind turbines accounted for less than 2% of USA’s total electricity generation.

In the wildest most aggressive estimates, this number may be increased to 25% in about 10 years. That would be a very impressive achievement. And every member of Congress who voted to support funding for the research today can take pride in that achievement if and when that happens.

In 20 years, perhaps we could push our luck even more and extend that to 40% of our energy.

So in 2021, we will only need oil, gas, coal, and nuclear for a mere 75% of our energy. And by 2031, we will only need oil, gas, coal, and nuclear for 60% of our energy.

Hmmm. That is still a lot of dependency on oil, gas, coal, and nuclear for the next 30 years, and after that lets just “hope” there is some major breakthrough that starts offering some significant relief.

Sorry. But that is simply offering some realistic pragmatic information by which America’s leaders should consider when planning our energy strategy going forward. Something that seems to be lost on President Barack Obama who seems to pretend that the investments in solar and wind energy today will solve all of our problems. Meanwhile the United States becomes more and more dependent on oil. And with no new drilling, more and more dependent on foreign oil. And given where this oil is, the United States is more and more dependent on the most horrible despotic governments in the world.

The fate of human freedom is imperiled by the frivolousness that American voters exercise on these matters.

But just as I leave you with a sobering message of choosing leaders who have real solutions instead of just empty promises of “hope”, it gets even worse.

It’d be bad enough if it was mere thoughtlessness and incompetence that has President Obama banking so hard on solar and wind in a way that has the United States precariously dependent on foreign oil. But look a little closer and you will see Obama telling the up-and-coming socialist government in Brazil to “drill drill drill” and promising that his America will “import import import”. And if you look a little closer at some of the names attached the Brazil’s oil drilling interest Petrobras and you will find the name of President Barack Obama’s top campaign donor George Soros.
